The High Court is due to hear an application today by a group of Cork Habour residents who are trying to prevent the construction of a toxic waste incinerator in Ringaskiddy.

The group is seeking a judicial review of An Bórd Pleanála’s decision to approve the incinerator against the advice of its own senior planning inspector.

Local residents have been campaigning for years against plans to build the incinerator, which would process hazardous waste from pharmaceutical firms and others companies in the Cork Harbour area.
