Mourners gather for Gerry Ryan's funeral

Friends and family of RTE Broadcaster Gerry Ryan are gathering this morning to say a final farewell to the 53-year-old who died last week.

Friends and family of RTE Broadcaster Gerry Ryan are gathering this morning to say a final farewell to the 53-year-old who died last week.

The 2fm presenter was found dead at his Leeson Street apartment in Dublin last Friday.

His body will be taken from his family home in Clontarf to St. John the Baptist Church this morning at 11.30am.

His sons and brothers will be among those to carry his coffin into the church while his other children will read prayers of the faithful.

His two eldest children Lottie and Rex and his brother Manno will deliver eulogies.

Music will be provided by the String Quartet from the National Symphony Orchestra, the Dublin Gospel Choir and Westlife who will perform 'You Raise Me Up'.

The President Mary Mc Aleese will be among those attending along with hundreds of people from the worlds of media and entertainment.

He will be buried privately alongside his parents in the Ryan family plot in Dardistown Cemetery.

Spokesperson for the family Joanne Byrne says Morah and Gerry's five children appreciate the publics' support at this difficult time.
