Boss Walter Smith must decide whether to risk the likes of Paul Gascoigne, David Ginola and Duncan Ferguson, who has only just returned to training, in such a high tempo collision, and may pack his side with hard running midfielders.

Thomas Gravesen and Alessandro Pistone were both denied the chance of a midweek reserve run-out because of bad weather, so neither are expected to be in the starting line-up.

Lee Carsley, cup-tied against Crewe last weekend and obviously ruled out of Tuesday’s replay, will return in midfield.

Team (from): Simonsen, Clarke, Weir, Stubbs, Unsworth, Naysmith, Alexandersson, Gemmill, Pembridge, Linderoth, Carsley, Blomqvist, Campbell, Radzinski, Ginola, Gascoigne, Ferguson, Gerrard, Unsworth, Gravesen.
