Steve Staunton's injury-depleted Irish squad are due to hold their first training session in Nicosia today ahead of Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Cyprus.

Steve Staunton's injury-depleted Irish squad are due to hold their first training session in Nicosia today ahead of Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Cyprus.

The side will be out to acclimatise to the heat of the Mediterranean island, where temperatures are current above 30 degrees Celsius.

Staunton is awaiting fitness tests tomorrow on strikers Clinton Morrison and Kevin Doyle before finalising his starting 11 for the game.
