Police have issued an arrest warrant for a woman they say has married five foreign men without divorcing her first husband in the US state of Georgia.

Shawnta McBride, 31, is charged with five counts of bigamy and false testimony, according to the warrants issued by the Gwinnett County Police. The documents say she has married five times in the county courthouse since she first married Robert Konaido in September 2004.

Police were searching for McBride, whose last known address was in Decatur, Georgia.

Police said her motive was unclear, but the case was similar to those of two men arrested in the suburban Atlanta county in September on suspicion of marrying several women each to help them gain US citizenship.

Four of McBride’s grooms were born in Ghana, one was from Morocco and one was from London, said Lorraine Stafford, the Probate Court administrator.
