Madonna has said she's never heard of the author Enid Blyton.
The singer made the confession as she launched her first children's book, The English Roses, in London.
The singer was asked by a reporter how she felt being described as the new Enid Blyton. "Who's that?" came the reply, says the London Evening Standard.
Blyton was the 20th century's most successful children's writer, creator of Noddy, the Secret Seven and the Famous Five.
However, Madonna did say her favourite books were by English authors - AA Milne's Winnie the Pooh and The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis.
