A truck driver has been killed in a road accident on the N4, almost midway between Enfield and Kilcock, in Co Kildare.

It brings to nine the number of people killed on our roads in the last seven days.

The National Safety Council said today that 110 (now 111) people had died in road accidents so far this year, compared to 85 in the same period last year.

There are serious delays in the area.
