Crowd gathers for September 11 mass

A large crowd has gathered at Dublin’s Pro Cathedral for a special mass to commemorate the 2,800 people who died in last year’s attack on New York and Washington.

A large crowd has gathered at Dublin’s Pro Cathedral for a special mass to commemorate the 2,800 people who died in last year’s attack on New York and Washington.

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, and the Tanaiste, Mary Harney, are both attending the service along with US officials and other dignitaries and politicians.

Members of the Dublin fire brigade are also at the mass to show solidarity with their colleagues in New York.
