Some of Europe's lesser-known players will get the chance to make a name for themselves today at the St Omer Open.
With the majority of the European Tour's big hitters across the Atlantic playing at the US Open, several of the Challenge Tour's leading players have arrived in France for what is the season's only dual-ranking tournament.
Among the names teeing off in Lumbres will be former US Amateur champion Edoardo Molinari and Holland's Joost Luiten, with England's Ben Mason and Ross McGowan and Welshman Jamie Donaldson also vying for a cheque in excess of €82,000 for the winner.
Topping the bill will be France's Jean-Francois Remesy, who made an impressive return to form last weekend, narrowly missing out on victory in a sudden-death play-off to Australia's Richard Green for the BA-CA Golf Open in Vienna.
It has been a disappointing season for the double Open de France champion, who had made just three cuts out of 13 before his showing in Austria.
But his revival in form has helped him climb from 228th to 85th on the European Tour Order of Merit and the 43-year-old is certain to make his return to home soil brimming with confidence.
Richard Finch, James Hepworth and Marcus Higley are among other British hopes competing at the event.
