Leeds have been handed a Yorkshire derby against Huddersfield for their first visit to round one of the Carling Cup after relegation from the Premiership.
Huddersfield, who have former Leeds stalwart Terry Yorath on the coaching staff, will travel north in the week commencing August 23.
Leeds’ fellow top flight exiles Wolves have had their lowly status confirmed by a draw away to Rochdale.
Perennial cup warriors Sheffield United have been paired with Stockport while city rivals Wednesday will face Walsall.
Of the other big names in the draw, Sunderland will be happy with a meeting with Chester, who are newly returned to the Football League.
Similarly, Nottingham Forest will fancy their chances against Scunthorpe while West Ham can look forward to a visit from Southend.
