Rod Stewart was devastated to learn of his son Sean's latest run in with the law for an alleged assault last weekend, and is reportedly at his "wits' end" with the troubled reality show star.
Sean Stewart is currently under investigation by US authorities for assault with a deadly weapon, after he and two friends were denied entry to a Hollywood Hills party on Saturday.
TMZ.com reports Stewart and his friends began throwing rocks and trash at guests as they left the bash.
Witnesses say the 26-year-old and his pals even attacked two revellers as they sat in their car.
And according to a close pal of the rocker, the Maggie May star has run out of parenting ideas to keep Sean - his son with first wife Alana Hamilton - in line.
A close friend of the rocker says: "He is at his wits' end. He's despairing and doesn't know what to do next.
"He's tried tough love, the softly-softly approach and let him know he's always there for him. But nothing seems to have got through.
"Rod's tearing his hair out. He has seven kids and it's hard to give them all the attention they need. But he loves Sean and has always tried to do the best by him."
Sean has previously been in trouble with the US law for drug and assault charges, resulting in a three-month stint in jail in 2002.
