Kenny to meet murder victim's parents

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny will today offer his backing to the family of murdered Paul Quinn in their fight for justice.

The dead man’s parents, Stephen and Briege Quinn, are to brief the senior opposition politician on their campaign at a meeting in Co Monaghan.

Mr Quinn, 21, a truck driver from Co Armagh was lured over the border to an isolated farm before being savagely attacked in a shed last October.

A Fine Gael spokesman said: “Stephen and Briege have already met with senior representatives of Fine Gael in Dublin when Enda Kenny wasn’t there so he was anxious to meet them at the earliest opportunity.

“He will be receiving a briefing from them about how their campaign is going locally and he obviously wants to show them Fine Gael’s support for justice in the case.

“He has raised the matter on a number of occasions in the Dáil.”

Fine Gael TDs Seymour Crawford and Fergus O’Dowd will also attend the meeting.

The Quinn family maintain that Paul was killed by the IRA because of a personal feud with one of its members.

They have rejected claims by senior Sinn Féin figures that the incident was linked to fuel smuggling.
