Dubliner Ken Doherty enters the Irish Masters tonight aiming to land his first title of the season.

The 1997 world champion faces Stephen Lee at Citywest for a semi-final place in the invitation tournament. Doherty has been a model of consistency this season, appearing in two finals, a semi-final and three quarter-finals.

"It means so much playing in Dublin but it's hard to turn it on just like that," he said.

"I just hope I can put in a performance worthy of the tournament."

Last night, fellow Dublin man Fergal O'Brien was dumped out in the first round 6-2 by Stephen Hendry.

Afterwards, O'Brien said he was hugely disappointed to have made such an early exit.
