The committee investigating Senator Ivor Callely's expenses is to resume deliberations behind closed doors at 6.30pm this evening.

The Seanad Committee on Members' Interests is examining the evidence of Senator Callely who denies wrongdoing in claiming more than €80,000 in expenses from an address in West Cork when his constituency is in Dublin.

The Committee must present its findings to the Seanad which is meeting this evening to debate a number of Bills.

Yesterday Ivor Callely admitted that all his post, and correspondence is sent to his family home in Dublin, where he is registered to vote, but he says he abided by the letter of the law in claiming expenses from Cork.
