Tyrone, Monaghan name McKenna Cup sides
Philip Jordan and Gavin Devlin will make their first starts of the season for reigning champions Tyrone in Sunday's Dr McKenna Cup final at Casement Park (throw-in 2.30pm).
The Red Hands' opponents Monaghan have drafted defenders James Coyle, who will also make his first start since last season's championship, and Colm Flanagan into their side.
Jordan and Devlin have been included in the Tyrone half-back line by manager Mickey Harte, who has made four changes to the side that lost 0-08 to 0-09 to Fermanagh a fortnight ago.
Eoghan Bradley returns at left corner back, flanking the recalled Conor Gormley, while Ryan Mellon makes well for Raymond Mulgrew in attack.
Noted defender Ciaran Gourley has also been given a midfield role, alongside Brian Meenan.
Tyrone, who are gunning for their third McKenna title in as many seasons, are without the services of suspended trio Eoin Mulligan, Mickey McGee and kevin Hughes, who earned bans for their involvement in the melees that marred Tyrone's NFL opener against Dublin.
Monaghan boss Seamus McEnaney has made three changes in personnel to the side that beat Dublin in the NFL on February 12.
As well as Coyle and Flanagan earning call-ups, Paul Finlay has moved to midfield with Shane Smyth coming in at left corner forward. Injury has ruled out both Dick Clerkin and Fergal Duffy, while Bernard O’Brien, Benny McKenna and Paul McGuigan are ineligible to play for the Farney men after lining out for their respective colleges earlier in the competition.
Monaghan midfielder Eoin Lennon could play three matches for his college and county this weekend. Lennon's services are required by DCU, who face a Sigerson Cup semi-final against UCC this afternoon.
Should they win, Lennon could be forced to line out in Saturday night's final at Parnell Park before making the trip north for the Tyrone clash.
Monaghan's last McKenna Cup final appearance saw them beat Tyrone 1-11 to 0-12 in the 2003 decider.
Sunday's winners will lift a new McKenna Cup, specially commissioned by the Ulster Council, who donated the previous trophy to the family of late Tyrone captain Cormac McAnallen.
