The Survivors of Child Abuse group is meeting Justice Minister Michael McDowell this afternoon.

The group will be urging the Minister to push for gardai to recover all church documents relating to clerical abuse.

It also wants the Minister to review the charitable status of the Catholic church.

Group spokesman John Kelly said: "All questions will relate to one particular issue, sovereignty.

What we need to know does Rome rule or the Irish State rule? We need to know are the Irish police subservient to Rome? Is the Irish state subservient to Rome?

"We know that the Minister has shown some resolve in this matter and we hope that he continues to do so."
