The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has expressed disappointment at the decision by the Celestica electronics firm to lay off 250 workers in north Dublin.

Earlier today, the company said it plans to halve its workforce of 500 as part of a global restructuring plan.

Celestica also cut 450 jobs at its facility in Swords last November.

Ms Harney said today that she has ordered FAS to assist the local workforce.

The IDA and Enterprise Ireland will also attempt to attract new investment into the area.
