Micko keen to stay in management
He may have turned 74 in recent weeks, but Mick O'Dwyer's appetite for Gaelic football shows no signs of abating.
In an interview with RTE Sport, O'Dwyer has rubbished media speculation that he is about to end his glorious, long-running managerial career at senior inter-county level.
"I never made a statement that I was going to opt out of management, I can assure you," he said.
"I intend to stay in there for a few more years anyway, at least. The health is pretty good. I've a bad ankle though, which I've going to get looked after."
The Waterville man's time in the managerial hot seat has included an incredible eight All-Ireland titles with his native Kerry, and Leinster Championship honours with Kildare and Laois more recently.
O'Dwyer has managed Wicklow for the past three-and-a-half years. Their Championship run came to a disappointing end last Saturday when they allowed 13-man Cavan overhaul them for a 0-15 to 2-8 qualifier win at Kingspan Breffni Park.
Asked if he stay on with Wicklow, he admitted: "I haven't made up my mind. It's something I'll think about over the next four, five or six weeks and then I'll make a decision as to what will happen."
