Mark Johnston launches a two-pronged strike on the Ladbrokes Great Voltigeur with Boscobel and Hearthstead Maison at York on Tuesday.
Successful with Bandari in 2002, the Middleham handler is concerned by the prospect of easy going f-or the latter.
However, he feels Royal Ascot winner Boscobel will not be inconvenienced and expects a bold show from the Sheikh Mohammed-owned colt.
“Both horses are very well but Hearthstead Maison might not want too much give in the ground, so that is a slight concern for him,” Johnston confirmed.
“But Boscobel should handle any ease fine and he’s in good form after his run in Ireland.
“He’d had two fairly hard races in quick succession before so he’s had a little break and he’s bouncing again now.”
Boscobel, who will be partnered by Frankie Dettori for the first time on the Knavesmire, has not been seen since finishing fourth behind Soldier Of Fortune in the Irish Derby.
“He was good at Royal Ascot and I don’t think he ran up to his best in the Irish Derby,” added Johnston.
“I’m a little bit surprised and can’t really understand why some of those he beat at Ascot are shorter than him in the market.”
