Seven held after attempted security van raid in Kildare

Gardaí have arrested seven people following an apparent attempt to raid a cash-in-transit van in Co Kildare this morning.

Gardaí have arrested seven people following an apparent attempt to raid a cash-in-transit van in Co Kildare this morning.

The incident happened in the Celbridge area at around 10am.

Armed gardaí managed to intercept the raiders while they were attempting to rob the security van at a shopping centre.

A firearm and four vehicles were seized during the operation.

Nobody was injured and no money was stolen.

Gardaí are believed to have been carrying out surveillance on the gang, which was reportedly from the Finglas area of Dublin.
