The field for the €1.3m Classic was boosted by one today when Godolphin opted to supplement Epsom runner-up Rule Of Law at a cost of €95,000.

Initial indications had been that the colt would not take his chance after he was forced to miss the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday with a low-grade upper respiratory infection.

But he was the subject of an upbeat bulletin by the in-form Godolphin team yesterday and Frankie Dettori will take the mount.

The participation of the son of Kingmambo means the first, second and third from the blue riband will all renew rivalry as Let The Lion Roar is on course for the race after pleasing connections this morning.

John Dunlop was keen to take on the Sir Michael Stoute-trained winner again with Let The Lion Roar in the aftermath of the Epsom showpiece.

Marcus Hosgood, racing secretary to the trainer, said today: “Let The Lion Roar worked this morning and worked satisfactorily. He is still on course for the weekend.”

John Gosden still has the option of running Epsom fourth Percussionist, as well as Day Flight, who occupied the same position in the French Derby.

Both horses are due to work between races at Newbury this evening.

Aidan O’Brien has six possibles, headed by Royal Ascot winners Five Dynasties and Moscow Ballet, while Dermot Weld has left in Grey Swallow, who will be stepping up to a mile and a half for the first time.

Budweiser Irish Derby: Book Of Kings, Cobra, Dalayan, Day Flight, Five Dynasties, Grey Swallow, Let The Lion Roar, Mikado, Moscow Ballet, North Light, Percussionist, Rule Of Law and Tycoon (13).
