Doyle in contention for Hull start

Hull have problems at left-back for Friday’s Premier League trip to Manchester City with Sam Ricketts suspended and Andy Dawson unfit to return.

Ricketts was sent off for two bookable offences against Sunderland last weekend while Dawson’s Achilles injury is taking longer than expected to heal – the pair’s absence could allow 21-year-old Nathan Doyle to come in for his first league appearance of the season.

Right-back Paul McShane is available to return after the terms of his loan deal precluded him from playing against the Wearsiders.

Craig Fagan is in contention for a place on the bench after recovering from a broken leg but Anthony Gardner (thigh) is again likely to miss out. Caleb Folan (knee) remains on the sidelines.

Provisional squad: Myhill, McShane, Turner, Zayatte, Doyle, Mendy, Ashbee, Boateng, Barmby, Geovanni, King, Garcia, Halmosi, Windass, Marney, Cousin, Giannakopoulos, Hughes, Fagan, Duke.
