Galvin benched as Kerry make two changes

Kerry captain Paul Galvin will have to play a substitute's role after failing to force his way into the defending champions' team for Sunday's GAA Football All-Ireland Senior final clash with Tyrone.

Kerry captain Paul Galvin will have to play a substitute's role after failing to force his way into the defending champions' team for Sunday's GAA Football All-Ireland Senior final clash with Tyrone.

Back available after seeing out his three-month suspension, Galvin's lack of match practice will have certainly counted against him in the selection debate.

Kerry manager Pat O'Shea obviously feels he can gain more by using Galvin as an impact player.

He has kept faith with the forward sextet that started last month's semi-final replay win over Cork, with Eoin Brosnan holding off Galvin.

Overall there are two changes to the side that overcame Cork. Tommy Griffin is unfortunate to lose out to Padraig Reidy in a defensive reshuffle.

Griffin, more known as a midfielder, slotted in at full-back for the Cork game but Padraig Reidy's recent good form means Griffin has been dropped to the bench.

Reidy will resume at left corner back with Tom O'Sullivan moving across to fill the full-back berth.

Darragh O Se, who is hoping to win his sixth All-Ireland medal this weekend, returns to midfield after being suspended for the semi-final replay. Micheal Quirke is the player to lose.

Meanwhile, Kieran Donaghy and Declan O'Sullivan have beaten off injury and the flu respectively to retain their starting slots.

In Galvin's absence, the Kerry side will captained by star wing-back Tomas O Se.

KERRY (SFC v Tyrone) - D Murphy; M O Se, T O'Sullivan, P Reidy; T O Se (capt), A O'Mahony, K Young; D O Se, S Scanlon; B Sheehan, Declan O'Sullivan, E Brosnan; C Cooper, K Donaghy, T Walsh.

Substitutes: K Cremin, T Griffin, S O'Sullivan, Darren O'Sullivan, M Quirke, D Walsh, D Bohan, MF Russell, R O Flatharta, P O'Connor, K O'Leary, D Moran, P Galvin, A Maher, P Corridan, M Moloney, K Quirke, A O'Shea.
