Lyon continue to dominate French football with a 4-0 win at bottom club Metz keeping them seven points clear of second-placed Paris St Germain.

Gerard Houllier's team, looking for a historic fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title, were 3-0 up at the interval thanks to John Carew, Juninho and Sylvain Wiltord.

Florent Malouda then added a fourth after half-time. Metz coach Joel Muller must be fearing the sack as his team is still winless with only four points from 12 matches.

They trail leaders Lyon now by 26 points - a massive margin considering only 12 matches have been played.

The win briefly gave Lyon a 10-point lead but second-placed Paris St Germain's 1-0 win at home to Nancy in a match that kicked off later reduced it back to seven.

Bonaventure Kalou was the goalscorer for PSG.

Third-placed Bordeaux are now nine points adrift after a 1-1 draw at Toulouse in the Garonne derby.

Daniel Moreira gave Toulouse the lead before substitute Juan Pablo Francia equalised for Bordeaux.

Goals from Jean Makoun and Matt Moussilou gave Lille a 2-0 win over Nantes while Marama Vahirua earned Nice a 1-0 win at home to Auxerre.
