Republic of Ireland and Sunderland defender John O’Shea is set to miss tomorrow night’s FA Cup quarter-final replay against Everton with a calf injury.

Skipper Lee Cattermole returns to the squad from suspension after missing the last four games.

He collected a two-game ban for reaching 10 bookings for the season and then two more for his dismissal after the final whistle in the 1-1 derby draw with Newcastle.

Right-back Phil Bardsley (illness and sore ribs) and midfielder Sebastian Larsson, who was rested for Saturday’s 3-1 Barclays Premier League win over QPR, are also expected to be available.

Left-back Kieran Richardson (calf) is out, along with long-term defensive absentees Wes Brown (knee) and Titus Bramble (Achilles/calf).

Provisional squad: Mignolet, Gordon, Bardsley, Bridge, Turner, Kilgallon, Kyrgiakos, Lynch, Cattermole, Gardner, Larsson, Elmohamady, McClean, Vaughan, Meyler, Colback, Sessegnon, Bendtner, Wickham, Ji, Campbell.
