The England defender missed the FA Cup semi-final win over Middlesbrough and the derby won over Spurs with a knee injury, but will take over from Oleg Luzhny, who picked up an injury in the semi.

Sol Campbell is also sidelined after damaging a hamstring in the win over Boro, but Arsene Wenger is boosted by the return ot Ray Parlour and Francis Jeffers.

Fit-again Tony Adams will take over from Campbell, while fellow central defender Igors Stepanovs is also available again.

Ipswich

Mark Venus faces a race against time to be fit for Ipswich's crucial clash at Highbury, live on Sky Sports.

The experienced defender is struggling with a knee injury and is rated "touch and go" by Tractor Boys physio Dave Williams.

George Burley's side, who need a win to keep their survival hopes alive, will be without Jermaine Wright (hernia), Keith Branagan (shoulder), who are out for the rest of the season and Jim Magilton, who's son is ill.

Thomas Gaardsoe, who would have been Venus' obvious replacement, Pablo Counago and Matteo Sereni are all sidelined, so Andy Marshall will continue in goal. Richard Naylor has been recalled from a loan spell at Barnsley.
